There are thousands of drug
addiction rehab centers in the United States, covering many types of drug
addiction treatment philosophies and modalities. According to the Substance
Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), approximately 90% of
people that enter drug addiction rehab centers each year attend
out-patient programs. Longer-term residential treatment centers typically have
a better success rate, especially when dealing with a hard-core addiction.
Some common types of drug addiction rehab centers are:
- Long-term residential rehab center (approximately
90 days)
- Short-term residential rehab center (30 days)
- Out-patient drug-free rehab center Out-patient
methadone treatment (or other opiate drug substitute)
- Long-term therapeutic community (6-18 months)
- Halfway-house for transitional living (6-18
months)
Some drug addiction rehab centers follow
more of a medical model, where clients are often given medication to cope with
symptoms of drug addiction. This may appear to help with some of the symptoms
at first, but does not handle the root of the problem and therefore does not
fit the full definition of rehabilitation, which is to restore to former
capacity, i.e. the way they were before taking any drugs at all.
These
are some of the things to consider when seeking a drug addiction rehab
center. The dedicated staff at Drug Addiction Resource can help you
find the right rehabilitation program for you. |
